October 30, 2026, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC), Royal University of Bhutan, received the Special Recognition Award for Supply Chain Education Development at the Supply Chain Asia Awards 2026, held at the Conrad Bangkok, Thailand. Presented before nearly 400 CEOs, global supply chain innovators, and regional industry leaders, the award recognizes JNEC’s sustained contributions to developing a skilled supply chain and procurement workforce for Bhutan and the wider region. In today’s fast-evolving technological landscape, procurement and supply chain management have moved beyond back-office functions to become drivers of national strategy, economic resilience, and sustainable development.

JNEC Students Shine at International Conference (CoMSO 2024) at NIT-Silchar India.

Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) proudly marked a significant milestone as its students showcased their research prowess at the prestigious CoMSO 2024—an International Conference on Modelling, Simulation, and Optimisation hosted by the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Silchar, India.
Among the many achievements, the paper titled “Optimum PV Design and Reconfiguration of Rubessa Solar Farm using Comparative Genetic Algorithms ~ A Solution to PV Systems Operating Under Partial Shading Conditions” by Lhendup Thinley Dorji and Chencho Dorji received the Best Paper Award in its technical session.

JNEC Team Secured 2nd Position in Business Idea Competition

JNEC Team secured 2nd Position in the Business Idea Competition held during Druk Tshongrig Gatoen, held at Startup Center at Thimphu from 19th to 21st October, 2023. The team received 30,000 as cash prize and Nu.5,00,000 as seed investment to kick start their business. The team will be provided an incubation space and guidance for a period of 6 months in iHub.

Congratulations! Mr Phurba Tamang, Lecturer in Civil Engineering for receiving the following awards from IIT Roorke.
1. Prof. C.L Toshniwal Award in Environmental Engineering for Academic Topper.
2. Kathpalia Award for Environment for best research dissertation.
3. Rural India Technology Upliftment Excellence Award for significant contribution towards the development of rural India.

e-Jeep (Electric Jeep) was developed by B.E. in Mechanical Engineering Students as a part of their final year project.

JNEC Volleyball Team (Men) was crowned champions

JNEC Volleyball Team (Men) was crowned champions during the 6th Winter University Games hosted by Gyalposhing College of Information Technology (GCIT). The annual Winter University Games were funded by Bhutan University Sports Federation (BUSF). Next year (2020), JNEC will host the University Games.
