Energy Efficient Lighting Education in Nepal and Bhutan (ELNAB) – EU funded project

About ELNAB

ELNAB is a higher education capacity building project to support Nepali and Bhutanese Higher Education institutions to provide education that promotes sustainable socio-economic development. The project aims to introduce Energy Efficient Lighting as a routine element of Engineering education in Nepal and Bhutan through pedagogical reinforcement of teaching staffs, improvement of courses, and improvement of teaching infrastructure. The project partner are universities from Finland, France, Greece, Nepal and Bhutan. From Bhutan, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC), Royal University of Bhutan (RUB), is the beneficiary partner of this project.

The project is co-fundeded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union. Aalto University, Lighting Unit is the project coordinator. The project duration is October 2016 – January 2019.

From this project, output such as capacity development of the faculties, development of lighting laboratory and development of course content in Illumination Engineering (electives of B.E. Power Engineering and Diploma in Electrical Engineering) and short-term training were achieved.
