The Center for Appropriate Technology (CAT) in collaboration with Department of Humanities and Management (DHM) in Jigme Namgyel Engineering College and Samdrup Jongkhar Initiative (SJI) conducted a half day training on, “Introduction to Leadership, Leadership of the Self and Communication Skills”, for a total of nine mid-level and lower-level local community managers from Dewathang Gewog, Samdrup Jongkhar Thromde, and Samdrup Jongkhar Initiative (SJI) on 9th May 2018.
The participants were introduced with types of leadership and created an avenue for them to retrospect on what kind of leaders they are in their respective organizations and what quality they need to possess. Further they were taken into the journey of Leadership of the Self (LoTS), where individuals got an insight of what a true leader is, and habits they should inculcate in transforming for both personal and professional development.  Finally the participants were taught on how to communicate effectively while delivering services in their organization as well as in community.
It was the first ever program conducted by the CAT for the community. Three faculty members from DHM, namely, Mr. Jurmey Tshering (Lecturer), Ms. Thinley Wangmo (Assistant Lecturer) and Mr. Pema Wangchuk (Associate Lecturer) resourced the training. The refreshments were sponsored by SJI. The participants shared that the training was useful considered it as a timely guidance to remind them on their purpose of living and transformation to becoming a better manager.
