From 13th to 19th July 2025, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College (JNEC) had the privilege of hosting four officials from two European partner institutions. The delegation comprised representatives from the International Relations Office of the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, Slovakia, and the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Portugal. They were received by the Officiating President of JNEC and the Office of the Dean of Research and Industrial Linkages.

During the visit, a series of productive meetings were held, focusing on enhancing student exchange programs and expanding opportunities under the ERASMUS+ framework. Key discussions also emphasized collaborative research, academic partnerships, and long-term institutional cooperation.

On 15th July 2025, the official from the Polytechnic Institute of Cávado and Ave (IPCA), Portugal, held a separate meeting with the Vice Chancellor of the Royal University of Bhutan. This high-level engagement further reinforced the strategic intent behind the partnership and explored broader avenues for institutional collaboration.

One of the major outcomes of the visit was the mutual interest in signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This MoU is envisioned not merely as a formal agreement but as a strategic platform to foster a wide range of joint initiatives, including student and faculty exchange, joint research, curriculum development, and capacity-building programs.

In parallel with this visit, two staff members from JNEC and one official from the International Relations Office, Office of the Vice Chancellor, are currently participating in an exchange program at the University of Ss. Cyril and Methodius in Trnava, Slovakia, from 10th to 25th July 2025.

Continuing this momentum, a JNEC student is scheduled to participate in a five-month semester-away program at IPCA, Portugal, beginning in September 2025, under the ERASMUS+ initiative.

These collaborative efforts underscore JNEC’s unwavering commitment to building strategic international partnerships and creating transformational learning and research opportunities for students and faculty in an increasingly interconnected academic landscape.

This visit also marked the first international delegation hosted by JNEC under the ERASMUS+ Interinstitutional Staff Mobility Programme for the financial year 2025–2026.
