Hon’ble Dasho Dzongda of Samdrup Jongkhar Dzongkhag, Dasho Tharchin Lhendup inaugurated the Campus Radio in Jigme Namgyel Engineering College, Dewathang on 6th April 2021.
The 10 W FM radio station broadcasting from JNEC campus is expected to reach out to listeners in a radius of 10 KMs in the vicinity. The FM 91.1 MHz radio will be entirely operated by the students and it will be on air from 5:00 – 8:00 PM every day with a diverse programs.
It will serve as one of the learning centers for the students in enhancing the technical knowledge and skills on Communication systems and radio transmissions. It will also serve as a platform for the students to develop soft skills through a variety of programs.
Furthermore, it will provide a platform for the community exchange where village elders are expected to share the importance of traditional values and their preservation through a community programs.
The JNEC Campus Radio is funded by the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC), Royal Government of Bhutan. The college offers sincere gratitude to the Department of Information and Media, MoIC, Royal Government of Bhutan.
