On the afternoon of 10th October, 2018, Jigme Namgyel Engineering College was privileged to host a guest lecture session by Mr. Vesraj Bhujel, Regional Director of Bhutan Power Corporation Ltd (BPCL), Samdrup Jongkhar. The session was mainly to connect field knowledge with that of the classroom knowledge.
Such forums are facilitated by the college to enable students to learn from the experiences of field experts and understand the current work environment vis-a-vis relevancy of knowledge and skills necessary in the field. Faculty, staff and students were taken on a journey on the establishment and functions of BPCL and the role of JNEC graduates in this organization. His presentation included his personal field experiences which is an additional insight for the students. In addition, Mr. Vesraj also shared on the Power System Reliability with a focus on Distribution System Reliability.
The guest lecture was attended by more than 80 students including faculty and staff. The enriching session was appreciated by the participants and the college was pleased to have him as a Guest Lecturer since he is also an alumnus of the then Royal Bhutan Polytechnic, known today as JNEC.
