Jigme Namgyel Engineering College invites applications from eligible in-service candidates for admission to the following Part-Time Diploma programmes for the 2026 intake:

Note: A minimum of 10 candidates is required to offer each programme.
1. Eligibility
Applicants must be in-service candidates and should have completed Class X plus a minimum of 1.5 years of Certificate Level course in the relevant field – Civil, Electrical, Mechanical/Automobile-related field – recognized by BQPCA or NC3.
OR
Candidates should have completed a relevant Certificate Level course from the erstwhile Royal Technical Institute (RTI), Phuentsholing, with a minimum of 60% marks.
Candidates who completed their Certificate Level qualification outside Bhutan must have the qualification recognized by the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Employment (MoICE)/RUB.
2. Application and Required Documents
- Eligible candidates should submit their application and supporting documents to Mr. Phuba, Examination and Student Records Officer (ESRO), at phuba.jnec@rub.edu.bt on or before 22nd October 2026. Download Application Form
- Applicants should submit academic transcripts and certificates, evidence of relevant/current employment, and other relevant documents as notified by the College.
- An entrance examination fee of 1,000/- per candidate shall be paid at the time of application.
3. Entrance Examination and Selection
Candidates shall be selected through a competitive entrance examination conducted by the College.
- Date of Examination: 28th October 2026
- Time: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon
- Mode: In-person at JNEC
- Duration: 3 hours
- Result Declaration: 30th October 2026
For Diploma in Civil, Electrical and Mechanical Engineering:
- Mathematics – 30%
- Science – 30%
- Fundamentals of the respective Engineering discipline – 40%
4. Programme Duration and Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL)
Classes for all part-time programmes will be conducted during college vacation in modular/block format. The curriculum of a semester will be divided into two module groups and delivered in separate vacation blocks annually. The winter vacation classes will be held in November, December and January. The summer vacation classes will be from June to mid-July.
The Diploma in Civil Engineering, Diploma in Electrical Engineering and Diploma in Mechanical Engineering will be completed over three years with the credit for the Industrial Attachment module waived through Accreditation of Prior Learning (APL), subject to evidence of relevant workplace experience, verification and approval.
5. Admission and Registration
- Provisional admission offers will be issued to selected candidates following declaration of the entrance examination results.
- Selected candidates must confirm their admission by 12 November 2026 by completing the required registration and paying a confirmation fee/security deposit of 5,000. The deposit will be retained by the College, if a candidate confirms admission but subsequently does not enroll.
- The reporting date and commencement of classes will be communicated to selected candidates later, along with the academic calendar.
6. Fee Structure
